strahov library
grand libraries like to think that they are "the best in the world". so does this one. it is part of the strahov monastery, which was founded in 1143 by the bishop of prague and the duke of bohemia. library rooms were installed and extended until the 18th century, garnished at very high level - even the ceilings were painted. these are the two main rooms:
finally, two photos of people who seem to suffer, or at least feel puzzled in the library!
so, is this "the best"? for me it is - i have been in many libraries, yet none matches the grandness of this one!
