charles bridge (preview)
this bridge, crossing the vitava river, was built from 1357 to 1402. it is 516m long, 10m wide, and has 6 arches. there are protecting towers at both ends.
on the bridge are 30 high-class statues, mostly presenting saints. since 1978, all traffic (cars, trams, busses) has ended, and it is now for pedestrians only. of course there are very many of them, all the time, enjoying the views forwards and backwards.
