THE FAMOUS CLOCK
prague's medieval astronomical clock was built in 1410, attached to the town hall. it is large, complex, and the only still running one. every visitor must see it, and wishes to see it - there is nothing like this anywhere else in the world. this supersupersuper clock has three sections, and on the left and the right side are carefully crafted little humans, sometimes just heads.
the bottom part is a calendar plate. and two men beside it read notes!
the middle part is the astronomical clock. - - far too complicated to explain it in this plain (and timid) essay ... at least you may notice that it operates on 24 hours (not the am & pm nonsense), and that sun and moon are indicated. a skeleton is there, yet a relaxed guitar player beside him.
the upper part is some kind of a cuckoo clock. every hour different figures appear in the two windows.
yes, stunningly so, this piece of high science is a piece of high art as well. and little alarm clocks as we like to have are completely over-demanded, they would like to be just absolutely quiet...
