DANUBE DELTA

the very very long river danube, which begins in germany's black forest, ends in eastern romania, south of ukraine, where it flows into the black sea. its final section is a huge delta, where the danube is split into three rivers.

the best place to start an exploration is the city of tulcea. in 1971, only rather small boats were available for tours. their advantage: they could cruise deep into the delta landscape.

the most exciting thing to see are birds birds birds - of which millions live in the danube delta.

especially stunning are of course the pelicans!
