FRANCISCO BRENNAND

recife in brazil is the home city of an outstanding artist, namely francisco brennand. he was born 1927 and created an incredible large number of paintings and especially sculptures, plus ceramic floor and wall tiles. some spectacular works are placed in the "parque das esculturas", sculpture park, on the reef outside the city's harbour. the centerpiece is a 32 meter tall column covered with ceramics and bronze. since 1971 he has made the former pottery of his father an art center. it now contains countless pieces of his work, and he created large-scale art buildings, quasi temples and ponds, all full of sculptures. in spite of his high age, he still works there intensely... note: this gallery will be presented as two separate parts.
