LOCATION OF GIBRALTAR
Yes, Gibraltar is located at the "Strait of Gibraltaar" but not at the most southern point - that is Spanish Tarifa. It sits east of the large Spanish city Algeciras.
Legally, Gibraltar is not Spanish, it is actually part of the English Empire. And its flag (see above) is red.
Opposite, in northern Morocco, there is a small European section, named Ceuta, owned by Spain for centuries.

HISTORY OF GIBRALTAR
The history of the settlement of today's Gibraltar:
$ It has been settled for at least 10.000 years
$ Phoenicians since about 1000 BC
$ Romans since about 200 BC
$ Visigothic kingdom from 418 to 720
$ Arabic kingdoms - until 1462
$ In 1462 Christian kingdom in northern Spain grabs it
$ 1704 an Anglo-Dutch fleet captures Gibraltar
$ Since 1713 Gibraltar is full part of the English Empire

These are very colourful streets, very much of English character - not surprisingly, given that Gibraltar is for 300 years just that. Plus, it even has a beach!
