BETHLEHEM
the prominence of this city has two reasons - it was the homeplace of israel's and judah's king david (1010-970 b.c.) and the birthplace of jesus (4 b.c.). the large christian church of nativity is there.
bethlehem is now a muslim city, but its christian community is respected.
