BALI TEMPLES
BALI - THE PURA DALEM TEMPLE
at the north coast of bali, near the town singaraja, is a temple complex called pura dalem jagaraga. it was originally built in the 12th century - yet destroyed by a dutch army command in 1849. but from 1865 onwards it was rebuilt.
why has the renovated temple become quiet famous? the reason is that a lot of not-at-all-historic sculptures were created, and that actually contemporary issues were presented - cars, boats, and even bicycles!
after visiting many buddhist and hindu and muslim buildings, to note a bicycle is baffling indeed, but for every cyclist - like me - it's a real pleasure, to see a bicycle in a temple!
