PARIS — CENTRE POMPIDOU

Centre Pompidou

in 1969 the french government decided that a new far-reaching museum should be built in paris, located in the beaubourg area in the center of the city which has a classical urban style.

Centre Pompidou

out of more than 600 (!) competition entries, the design by renzo piano, richars rogers and su rogers was selected.
the center was built from 1971 to 1977. its size is: length 166m, width 60m, hight 45m, and it has 7 levels.

on the front side is a huge terrasse-like passway which provides access to all levels of the building.

on its backside the style of the building is certainly difficult — very colorful, very technical, and using kind-of-tubes as a terrific feature.

finally, a relaxed part of the center pompidou is a little lake full of amusing coloured art figures.

Centre Pompidou

beside being a grand art place, the center pompidou is also a stunning example of hyper-modern architecture and enginering - - always was and now, 50 years later, still is.
just looking at it from all sides is worth a travel!
