FIJI

the country fiji is located in the middle of the south pacific ocean, about 2500 km east of australia and north of new zealand. it consists of more than 300 islands.
it has been settled since 3000 b.c. thousands of years later fiji became a kingdom, in 1870 - - yet in 1874 great britain made it a colony. in 1970 fiji achieved independence, and in 1987 it became a republic.
the population is 880000, and the capital city is suva, on viti levu.

i have visited fiji once, in 1988. at that time all my photography was done to create printed pictures for voyage albums. of those, the ones of fiji were not scanned for digital pic's. thus there are no galleries yet. in the following, just a few general images will be presented.
