LONDON

London was founded by the Roman Empire around 47 D.C. as Londinium. Then more or less abandoned. Only much later, in 886, it became the capital city of England, and of the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland). When in 1066 the Normans conquered England, London maintained its leading role.

London is also the seat of the British kingdom. Nowadays it has a population of around 8.8 million.

This city is crowded with "sightseeing" places. In the following just a few will be shown, mostly classical ones, like the tower castle, the big Thames bridge, the parliament including the "Big Ben", yet also examples of modern architecture.
