ALGERIA - SAHARA - CAR WRECKS
travelling in the
sahara is often demanding, given that proper roads are
rare or missing altogether (see section "routes &
tracks" above).
numerous tracks are tough conditions for cars, and
many "pass away" ... main reasons used to be accidents
because of rough trails, and crashing engines or gear
boxes. there are no repair shops in those areas;
however, people usually dismount every piece which can
be used elsewhere.
for a photographer it is a somewhat weird venture to
take pictures from car wrecks - yet during several
sahara voyages in the eighties and nineties of last
century there were countless vistas of dead vehicles,
or just doors or wheels or tires, often covered by
sand - - so, here are some images!
