TURKEY
the country turkey is mostly located in western asia, but has a small area in europe as well. it has borders with 7 countries, the largest one with syria. current turkey was founded in 1923, after the collapse of the ottoman empire. the population is 82 mio, and its capital is ankara. my thorough voyage through turkey happened in 1977 (the first attempt in 1974 flopped when turkey closed its borders). in 2009 i visited once more istanbul.
