LAKES - THUNERSEE

the "thunersee" is a lovely lake about 50 km south-east of bern, overlooked by very high mountains, the Bern alps ... towns situated at this lake include thun at the western end, interlaken in the east and spiez at the southern shore ... spiez' historic castle and church sit on a little peninsula above the harbour ... both modern boats and a grand old paddle steamer offer cruises ... and the hills at the lake's northern shore are very popular with hanggliders - see the last pic of this series!
