MURTEN / MURAT

murten is a small town (west of bern) which sits on a hill overlooking lake murten ... its medieval town walls and towers as well as a castle are well-preserved ... the main street with lots of shops and restaurants looks like a market place, while the smaller lanes contain lovely residences ... there are many picturesque details, such as funny metalwork on fountains, unusual shop signs, little gnomes on window sills and so on ... and of course the swiss people love big clocks on towers ... for the best views, walk around town on the walls!
