LANDSCAPES
svalbard has a rough climate, and
there are many glaciers on the islands. the interior
fjords are covered by ice in winter. given svalbard's
arctic position (from 74 to 81 north latitude), for 3 to 4
month each midnight sun or polar night (no sun) occurs.
during polar nights, colourful polar light (aurora
borealis) may occur.
the photos below were made in november, that is early
polar night, called polar twilight.
