TENERIFE - BRIEF ESSAY
the island tenerife is the main island of the canary islands. its population is close to 1 mio residents. the canary islands have been settled since the 5th century bc.
in 1464 spain took procession of tenerife, and since then it rules all canary islands, it never got threatened in this.
nowadays tenerife is one of the most popular tourist places in the whole world.
given that spain rules tenerife since more than 500 years, the appearance of its cities and villages is indeed very spanish.
also in spanish style: all the churches and basilicas and cathedrals (yes, tenerife even has a cathedral). below: tenerife's largest church.
there are lots of pleasant beaches in tenerife - yet also lots of mountains! above all, literally: mount teide, located in the center of the island, is 3715 m high
in winter, mount teide is often covered with snow.
so, is tenerife worth a visit? absolutely - although one has to cope with the reality that it is crowded almost every time of the year, it's certainly not a 'lonely light location'!
