the harbour is still the heart of hong kong (it was the harbour which made england grab hk in 1841), and a stunning sight indeed, whether you look from kowloon towards hong kong island with its skyscrapers, or from 'the peak' (554 m) northwards ... the famous green-and-white star ferries are still going strongly ... the southern harbour shore (on hong kong island) is an endless line of mighty office towers, while the opposite harbour side (kowloon's southern tip) was converted into an art & museum district, with the beige-coloured huge cultural centre as a new landmark ... the view from there across the harbour is especially spectacular at night when all the buildings are lit ... during christmas time it seems a bit much though!
