the narrow-gauge "hsb" railway, "harz-schmalspurbahn", consists of 3 lines: wernigerode--nordhausen, eisfeld--quedlinburg, and dreiannen--brocken, the peak of the harz mountain. most trains are run with a historic steam engine.
the peak is 1141 m high. the tour is very popular, and every day several trains go, summer or winter.
