the republic colombia is located in the north-west of south-ameria. it has access to both the pacific and the atlantic ocean. its capital city is bogota, its oldest harbour city cartagena. population of the country: 50 mio. colombia was part of the large spanish empire from around 1530 until 1819 when it gained independence. i visited colombia in 1988/1989. so far, only galleries for cartagena and from an excursion to the amazonas river (via leticia) are presented.
